New York - Day 4

Sunday, August 2, 2009

Today it poured down rain.  We started out the day by heading to the MET. DSC_0227 We opted for the Subway since it was a ways from our hotel.  By the time we got there I had to sit down on the front steps and drink an entire bottle of water.  We did not get to stay very long because we had a reservation for Sunday brunch at Tavern on the Green.  But what we saw was fabulous!  I can't wait to go back and see the rest.  DSC_0230

Susan wanted me to take a picture of this random piece of art that we saw there.  Somehow I don't think it worth very much.

This is one of my favorites.

We walked from the MET across Central Park to Tavern on the Green.  And on the way there it started pouring.  I thought I was going to die.  I don't think I realized quite how far it was before we started going.  My sister, the new found lover of running, ran ahead of us to be sure we were not late for our reservation.  I think it was more because her very sad umbrella had died a tragic death a couple days before that.  We did trek it over to the subway in the rain to get back to the hotel.

We rested until the rain stopped.  Then we headed out again for another bus tour.  This time we took the uptown tour.  We were not sure we were going to have time to finish the entire thing, but we managed to make it through most of it.  By this time I was tired of hauling my camera around, so I will have to get pictures from my sister.  Of course, I should have taken pictures of the Dunkin Donuts stores that were on every block.  Oh how I am craving some chocolate cake donut holes.

That evening we went to see Mamma Mia.  Out of the two shows we saw, my favorite was Wicked.
