Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! It has been nice to have a few days off of work to get some things done and also to relax.

On Thanksgiving day we went to Shannon's parents house for lunch, and then made burgers on the grill that evening for Nathan's dad and step-mom. (This was their first time to see the house.) It was nice to actually be in our own house for a holdiay and to not be traveling. The past two Thanksgivings were spent in Michigan, since our Christmas traveling was so close to it. So it was nice to be with the family again.

Friday I got up at 5:45 am to beat the holiday rush to Target. I managed to do that (except for the toy section). Its a good thing I don't have kids yet!! Then my next stop was the Parks Mall in Arlington. Sears was already booming. Too much chaos there to shop for anything. I had gone through the whole mall, managed to buy a few things, and I was on my way home by 8 am. The rest of our day was spent getting all of our decorations out of the attic. We managed to get the tree up and decorated by 5 pm. That night we went to dinner with our friends Justin & Ashley and Dave & Jen to the Red Robin that just opened in Cedar Hill. (We had one of these in Ann Arbor, and Nathan was very excited to find one here.) We had a fabulous time!!!

Saturday we both got up at 7 am to go back to the mall. I have now learned the shopping secret of the world which I will share with all of you, go to the mall early on the Saturday after Christmas. Everyone else went on Friday. No one is there on Saturday. It was like a man's dream way to go to the mall. Most of the stores open early with the big department stores, and the ones that don't open at 9 anyway. Oh, the reason for going back to the mall...to finally get the stuff we needed from Sears and to exchange a wrong size from Friday's trip. We made a few more stops after the mall and went home. We spent the rest of the day working on my sister's house, getting ready for the twins. Their room is now completely painted and it even has a couple pieces of furniture in it.

Sunday...that is today. Our plans include hanging christmas lights outside (now that we have a ladder tall enough to reach the top of the house). Boy, I wish everyone could have seen Nathan trying to climb on top of the roof. It was very entertaining!! But he was trying hard to make the house look beautiful for the holidays. Maybe we will even get started on that cornice board today! We can always hope.
