Back from Vacation

We are back. Here is the vacation in a nutshell.

Monday: We went to Fossil Rim Wildlife Center in Glen Rose. Garrett loved it. It is a drive through park where you can feed the animals. Nathan almost got attacked by an ostrich. I forgot my camera that day, so there are no pictures. Guess we will just have to go back. The day was beautiful. No rain while we were there.

Tuesday: We drove to Waco and visited Nathan's grandmother and Baylor. We ended up staying two nights with our friends James, Sharla, and Alli due to the monsoon making it difficult for us to get to the farm. The bears were taking a nap while we were on campus, but we got to walk around a little and go to the bookstore.


Alli and Garrett had fun that night having a slumber party in the living room.

Wednesday: We spent the day with our friends and even managed to get back to campus to catch the bears. They were out this time. Then we went to Sharla's parents's house in Gatesville that evening.

Garrett got to watch his first fireworks. (He was actually awake this year.) I held my hands over his ears and he held onto me for dear life. I will have to wait until Sharla sends me the pictures.

Thursday: We drove to San Marcos and went to the outlet mall for a little shopping. All Garrett wanted to do that night was sit in the hotel room and watch Dora. He even slept in the sofa bed by himself.


Friday: We got up and went to the children's museum in New Braunfels. There was a ton of stuff to play with in this place. Garrett was a little over stimulated by all of it. And we only ended up staying a couple of hours. After lunch we drove to San Antonio. We decided to go to the San Antonio Zoo. Upon exiting our vehicle and walking a couple hundred feet, the skies opened up and we were in the middle of a downpour. So we went back to the car and waiting out the storm. We were not extremely impressed with the zoo. They are in the middle of building a new exhibit. Maybe one day it will be better.

For dinner that night we went to Benihana's. Garrett was kept busy with a bowl of sticky rice all night. By the time we left the rice was everywhere.

Saturday: This was a great day! We got up and went to Seaworld. First, we saw the dolphins in the feeding tank. G was so excited about that.


Then we went to the indoor shark tank. After that, we were onto the dolphin and beluga whale show. Garrett was mesmerized during the whole show. He loved watching the dolphins jump in the air.


Then we moved onto the Shamu show. I love to watch the trainers with these big animals. It is just amazing the relationship that they create and the things they can get those large animals to do.


After that we went through the penguin exhibit and then onto the Sea Lion show. This show involved a lot more talking than G probably cared for, but he still loved seeing the animals.

We were all exhausted at that point, so we decided to head back to the hotel. G fell asleep before we ever made it to the car. He slept on the way back to the hotel, but after that was done with his nap. After a little relaxing at the hotel, we decided to head to the riverwalk for some dinner. We ate at our favorite place, Casa Rio. Again, G loved it. As soon as we walked down the stairs to the river he said "wow".


After dinner we took G for a ride on the boats. He loved it. He just kept saying "boat" over and over. We even saw multiple weddings during our trip. It was great to have such a good day with the family.




And of course on the way back we took the obligatory photo in front of the Alamo.
