Week of firsts

This past week has been a week of firsts. Garrett had his first week of day care. On Thursday he smiled at mom for the first time. We happened to be a marching band rehearsal and Nathan was on the tower so he did not get to see it. But Garrett did smile for him the next day. Friday night Garrett slept in his own room for the first time. I don't think my sleep was any better. He was on a pretty good schedule during the week from daycare. The weekend just screwed it all up. He was back to getting up multiple times a night. I hope tonight goes better. He just went to bed, and I have a feeling he will be back up in a couple of hours.

Nathan starts back to school tomorrow. That means college football starts soon! We can't wait to teach Garrett all about it.

Today was the NASCAR race at Watkins Glen. For those of you who don't know, Nathan and I love NASCAR racing. My favorite driver is Tony Stewart. When we lived in Michigan, he was at the Home Depot in Ann Arbor and he signed my Home Depot Racing hat. I have come to believe that Garrett is Tony's new good luck charm. There have now been 7 races since Garrett was born, and Tony has won 5 of them. The other two he placed 5th in one race and 7th in the other. He now has the points lead. Maybe this will lead to him winning another championship. Nathan and I have tickets to go the the race at Texas Motor Speedway on November 6. Garrett won't be going. (It's way too loud for him!) But he will be watching and cheering from Nathan's aunt's house.
