Texas State Fair

On Saturday, Nathan, Justin, Ashley, and I took G to the fair.  We have taken G to the fair every year and it is always a different experience.   All the way to the fair he talked about how he wanted to ride the Ferris Wheel.   If you have never been to the fair, the Ferris Wheel is ginormous.  By the time we got up to the ride, G had buried his head and decided he was not getting on that thing.  So, we headed off for the kiddie rides.  IMG_4075

G decided he wanted to ride a caterpillar roller coaster.  So, I was the lucky one to ride with him.  On this initial climb up the hill he had his hands in the air and was very excited.  By the time we got ready for the second go around, he was ready to get off.  Luckily, he made it around all 3 times without making them stop the ride.  Next, we went to ride the log flume ride.  This time, I made Ashley go with us.  It managed to even freak us out a little when things started spitting water at us that we were not ready for.  Then we started going up a pretty steep hill.  It took a lot of work to hang on to the boat and G at the same time without crushing Ash.  We came down the hill so quickly that Nathan did not have time to take a good picture.  IMG_4078

So, you can't tell in this picture that G is sitting in front of me.

Next, we headed out of the midway to find some lunch.   The lunch of choice was, of course, Fletcher's corny dogs.  IMG_4082

Here is Nathan enjoying his corny dog.

After lunch, we headed to get pink lemonade and take a stroll through one of the exhibit halls.  IMG_4084

We headed from there to the autos.  Nathan spent a lot of time looking at the new 2009 F150.   IMG_4085

After the autos G and I rode the skyway.   The rest of them walked to the other end of the skyway.  Then Nate took G on the return trip and the rest of us set out to find ice cold root beer and a funnel cake.

At that time we were hot and tired.  We decided to call it a day.   We had a great time at the fair.
