Dishwasher recall

In case you live in a cave, GE recalled 2.5 million dishwashers yesterday manufactured between 1997 and 2001. We moved into our house in 2003 and it was 2 years old when we moved in. I got really excited thinking just maybe my dishwasher that I hate so much would be included in this recall. And sure enough it was!!! (Do a little happy dance!) The options for the recall are getting it fixed for free or a rebate when you purchase a new dishwasher from the list of approved dishwashers. Since the plan for the year was to purchase a new dishwasher, we of course chose the rebate. So, we are getting a new dishwasher and a $300 rebate.

The downside is that my current dishwasher could catch fire and they recommend not using it. Since the new one will not delivered for a week and a half I guess we will be washing some dishes by hand.
