Baby gates

We thought we would be able to contain him without baby gates. His favorite places to go are

1) the trashcan, where he has already taken a face first dive into the side of it
2) the dishwasher (he likes to push the buttons)
3) the oven/stove (The oven is built into the bottom cabinets and the buttons are reachable and unlockable. The worst part is that he enjoys this the most when I am cooking.)
4) the cat's area
5) the kitchen chair that weighs 30 pounds (he enjoys pulling on it and he bounces so much that I am afraid he is either going to whack his head of pull it over on top of him)

For these reasons we think it is time for the baby gates so we can section off the living room. Our space is really wide. We need ones that fit up to 60 inches. We also don't want ones that are pressure mounted. The boy is really strong and I am pretty sure he would have those down in a heartbeat.

Let me know if you have purchased a baby gate with these restraints or if you have any other thoughts on them. We don't keep our pack n play out anymore, but I am almost to that point. We also don't have enough space to have one of those super play yards.

You totally have enough room for the superyard play pen! If we do in our tiny apartment, I know your house could handle it! :-) We fold it up every night if we used it during the day and store it under his crib.

The gate I see the most at friend's playdates is this one - it is pretty easy to open and close but you have to screw it into the wall. I think it has extensions to make it longer... I don't know about the 60 inches though... we're not babyproofing our apartment since we're moving out in less than two months.

Good luck with the gate hunting!
